Window located within shower?
We are in the process of renovating our master bath. There is a 4' x 4' window located inside the shower. The previous owners converted the tub area into a shower. While we LOVE the large shower, I was worried about the quality of the workmanship. I gutted the shower- it's down to studs (and good thing, the insulation was all wet below the window). No mold... whew!
So, here's my plan:
1. Now that the area is dry, install new insulation.
2. Line the window area with the same pan liner used for building the base.
3. Put concrete backer board over the rubber sheeting
4. Install a vinyl window (any suggestions on brands that have patterned or leaded glass?)
5. Tile, grout, seal
I will ensure the window sill has a 1/8" slope to minimize standing water and will also double up the bottom plate under the window for additional support.

Good plans. Vinyl windows from Simonton, Jeld-Wen, Tempco Products, Weathershield are good choices. I'm not sure what you mean about the 1/8" slope... you need to install the window plum and level, and just deal with the water on the inside. Also, and very, very important: your window must have tempered glass because of being in the shower! Most good window manufacturers offer an option of tempered, obscure glass for this application.
