Truck bed carpet is a great option to protect your truck bed. Some kind of bed liner is almost a necessity to prevent damage to an expensive truck. Either protect your truck's bed or your truck may lead a short life. Even an older truck needs a liner if you use your truck for hauling. Otherwise damage to your truck can be the start of rust which will eventually destroy your vehicle.
Choosing a liner material depends partly on how you use your truck. You can choose a spray on bed liner, a drop in liner, bed liner paint, rubber mats or a carpet liner.
Lining your bed with carpet can be as simple as cutting material to fit your bed. Better yet, choose a custom fitted liner just for your truck. Carpet is particularly good if you haul messy loads. The mat can be removed and cleaned or replaced easily. Some mats are reversible so you can quickly change sides for a new-looking mat. An option with a custom liner is covering the wheel wells and bed sides too.
If your truck spends most of the time in the garage, carpet lining is ideal. Also if you use a tonneau cover or a truck cap, a carpet cover is great. These liners stand up to any kind of weather, but they are best with a bed cover. Otherwise, you have a soaked lining in your bed if it rains. These liners also are useful as protection for a spray on bed liner. Impacts that would damage a spray on liner will be absorbed by a mat.
If you haul cargo, carpet is a non-skid surface to help secure loads. Of course if you need to slide loads, the non-skid surface is a negative. If you get on your knees in the bed dealing with cargo, the pad will smooth out the ridges in the bottom of the bed.
The main disadvantage of a carpet mat is potential for water damage. If the mat gets wet and stays in the bed, the moisture in and under the lining can start corrosion of the bed. If the mat gets wet, it really should be removed to allow it and the bed to dry.
So if your truck bed stays dry, a carpet bed liner is a good option to protect your expensive truck bed. The mat will protect the bed from damage and keep your truck bed looking good for a long time.

How to Care for your Natural Fiber Rugs
There are several different types of natural fiber rugs. The most common include Sisal, Jute. Seagrass and Wool. Natural fiber rugs are absorbent and will shrink so it is important these rugs be used indoors. I tell my clients it is best to stay clear of basements and other possible damp areas in the home when placing these types of rugs in the home. To protect against the growth of mold and mildew, I recomend placing your rug in an open, ventilated area with climate control. Also keep in mind direct sunlight exposure when placing your rug in the room. No matter what type of fabric, a rug will change slightly in color over time when exposed to direct sunlight . A good idea is to rotate the rug a couple of times a year to minimize color change.
My clients always ask me "what do you put underneath these rugs when placing them on the floor?" My answer is always the same...a pad. You will find that some natural fiber rugs come with a latex backing on them. Even though this is the case I still recommend a nonskid pad underneath. A pad will prevent slipping and sliding, preserve your rug and provide a cushion against your floors.
Frequent vacuuming is the best thing you can do to maintain your rug. I tell my clients that weekly vacuuming will remove much of the dirt particles. Most of the dirt particles that we track in daily is considered "dry dirt". You do not want dirt particles to lodge between the fibers of the rug as this can cause additional wear. I am sure by now you are wondering what happens if a liquid spill occurs. If a spill does occur, it is simple...just blot the area with a clean, absorbent towel. It is important not to rub because rubbing can actually work the liquid deeper into the fibers of the rug and possibly stain the rug.
I tell my clients it is best to get your rug cleaned by a professional who has the knowledge and training in the care of natural fiber rugs every 1-2 years.
