Can you suggest good snow shoes to hike?

I thought hiking snow shoes are like big shoes with spikes underneath them as hikers in TV have.
But when I look up sports authority and amazon, snow hike shoes looks like flaps to be attached underneath normal shoes.

Am I mistake or what. Those big shoes with spikes is for snow mountain climbers and not for normal snow hikers?

Yeah, there's two kinds: boots that are more traditional which you add studs or cramp ons to (like YackTrax), or the traditional snow shoe that looks like an oversized tennis racket. Obviously, the more traditional style of winter boot isn't going to do a thing if you're hiking through deep snow, but if you're on hard pack, they're terrific.
