If you're strength training, perhaps you've also wondered which is better - machine weights or free weights. Actually, there has been a lot of argument surrounding this question. Some say that machine weights are better, while others say that free weights are more effective.
However, there is no ideal answer. Both are able to help you increase muscle strength. Both have advantages and disadvantages. It all boils down to the level of training you are in and your personal preference. Let us explore the advantages and disadvantages of machine weights and free weights.
Advantages of Machine Weights
Machine weights are ideal for beginners. They are safe to use, can be easily handled, and can teach you basic strength training movements.
It is easier to isolate a specific muscle group when using machine weights.
Using machine weights enables you to have the proper movement and posture for lifting, which is difficult to maintain with free weights, especially when the muscles become tired.
It is easier and faster to change the resistance in machine weights. This is usually done simply by inserting a pin or keying in a code.
Disadvantages of Machine Weights
Machine weights give you limited movement and are good for just one type of exercise.
It may be difficult to adjust some machine weights to your specific body frame, particularly if you are taller or shorter than most people.
Your stabilizer muscles are not able to work as hard with machine weights, because the machine helps you achieve balance.
Advantages of Free Weights
Free weights allow natural movement patterns.
Free weights allow your stabilizer muscles to work as you achieve balance.
You can do more exercises with free weights by just changing positions. This enables you to target more muscle groups using various exercises.
Free weights are not as expensive as machine weights.
Free weights are not as bulky as machine weights and are easier to store.
Disadvantages of Free Weights
It is not always easy to balance the weight you are carrying. If done improperly, it may lead to injury particularly if you are raising the weight above your head.
It is not easy to isolate muscle groups when using free weights. You have to learn specific techniques for this.
When using free weights, the tendency is to swing them instead of lift them slowly. You need the latter to build muscles effectively.
After seeing the advantages and disadvantages of using machine weights and free weights, which do you think suits you better? If you are a beginner, machine weights are more suitable for you during the first three months of your training. They are easier and safer to use.
If you're already on the more advanced level of strength training, then free weights may be more effective for you. They will help strengthen your muscles for balance, and will let you go through the exercise with natural movements. Using both machine weights and free weights can make your exercise routine more exciting and challenging.

Snacks For Diabetics And Dieters - Extend Bars
During her research for a nutritional tool to help patients stabilize their blood glucose level, Dr, Francine Kaufman, M.D., past president of the American Diabetes Associations, found a combination of ingredients (uncooked cornstarch, fat, protein and other carbohydrates) that would stabilize blood sugar levels for up to nine hours. Using this research, Dr. Kaufman went on to develop a patent-protected formula into a snack for diabetics. This diabetic snack is called Extend Bars.
Successfully Manage Your Blood Sugar
Because Extend Bars convert to blood sugar so gradually, they offer many benefits other carbohydrates cannot. Most carbohydrate snacks convert to sugar in less than two hours, compared to the nine hours with Extend Bars. You will not experience the high blood sugar swings and then the low level of blood sugar that happens with many other foods. You will have a stabilized blood sugar level for up to 9 hours.
Sustained Energy Level Over A 9 Hours Period
Converting to blood sugar over nine hours means a sustained supply of energy. Eat an Extend Bar in the morning and it will provide you with enough energy to last throughout the work day. There will be no sudden spike in energy and then an afternoon crash that comes due to low blood sugar.
Lose Weight or Just Maintain Your Weight
Extend Bars can help anyone, not just diabetics. Our craving for food is often caused by a drop in the sugar level in our blood. With Extend Bars, the sugar level is stabilized, thus reducing the craving for food. Eating these snacks has been clinically proven to reduce the calories you eat at the next meal by an average of 21%.
Heart Healthy
These snacks have low or reduced fat, are cholesterol free and contain no trans fat. They are a low carbohydrate snack with just 1 or 2 net carbs. Other benefits include high in protein and fiber, sugar free, just 150 to 160 calories per bar, gluten free, and they are a kosher snack.
Extend Bars Are A Good as a Bedtime Snack
Eating one of these bars before going to bed stabilizes your blood sugar level all night. No more waking up to a low or high sugar count.
There Are Now Extend Crisps and Extend Shakes
The formula used for the bars has now been used to produce crisps and shake products. These new items also have all the great health qualities of the bars. All of these products are produced by Clinical Products, LLC. under the name Extend Snacks.

what does stabilizer bar bushings do ? apparently the creaking noise i hear around the front left side of the?
car when i brake is because of bad stabilizer bar bushings. is it an easy fix ? do you have an idea of how much it costs ? and can i gnore it for a year if it is too expensive to fix ? the car is a nissan altima 94
the noise is around the tyre region like on my side of the car in front.
kevin is there a way to do it for under 100 bucks ? thanks. i just replaced the front strut too.
The stabilizer(sway) bar bushings isolate the sway bar from the vehicle to keep noise and harshness from transferring to the passenger compartment. You could really put it off until you hear clunking, which means the bushings are not, or might as well not be there, but this cold cause damage to the mounting area, it is not a hard or expensive fix, so i would just fix it. (it could just need a bit of grease)
