Here are some more information for Pistons Gaskets:

Some companies rely heavily on the use of compressors and if their compressors were to break down then the company could have some downtime which could lead to loss of earning. The main problem here is that compressors are not cheap items and can be very costly to replace. There is however an alternative, depending on the fault of your unit you may be able to replace the damaged part.
There are a lot of companies that specialise in the supplier of Compressor spare parts; this method is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit providing you can identify the faulty part. If you can not identify the part do not worry too much, the spare part suppliers often have a support phone number you can call, from there you will run through your compressor in detail, its make, model and how it is functioning. When you have informed them of your products details they will try and use their experience and knowledge to tell you what part needs replacing.
If you still can not determine the part to replace, a lot of them will allow you to send your compressor in where the will repair it and add the spare parts required, although this method will lead to some downtime it is far more cost effective then purchasing a whole new system.

A Closer Look at an Engine's “kidney”
When a Volkswagen spews large amounts of white smoke out of its exhaust, it could mean a problem right at VW engine's kidney – the VW head gasket. Basically, VW head gaskets seal the cylinder heads to the engine blocks and also seal the coolant passages. When a gasket fails, coolants can enter the cylinder and will be turned to vapor as the engine ignites. Generally, a history of overheating results to eventual failure of head gaskets. Under extreme heat, the cylinder head can warp and prevent the engine head gasket from sealing properly.
Quality has never been stressed by German automobile manufacturer VW. Taking its roots from the progressive principles of the Nazi regime, VW has produced various lines of vehicles that embodied the high-standard and supremacy of old Germany. Today, in its quest for being the best, VW has endured the test of time and has become the fourth largest automobile manufacturer of passenger cars and Europe's largest auto-maker. VW is responsible for the sale and service of Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini. Known throughout the entire world for its blue VW logo, the company redefined innovation and efficiency in every vehicle that they have released in the market.
A head gasket can fail for a number of reasons – none of them good. Engine overheating is the most popular culprit, as mentioned in the introduction. In an event of engine overheating, the metal construction of the engine block and head expands beyond limits. Other major causes of head gasket failure are engine pre-ignition or detonation. The effect of these two conditions is out-of-time combustion occurring in the cylinders. Internal combustion is supposed to occur with both valves closed and with the piston at the top of its power stroke. Out-of-time combustion puts extra strain on the valves, pistons and head gasket. Ironically, engine overheating also increases the likelihood of pre-ignition and detonation. A pernicious sound of damage is characterized by the pinging or knocking sound of an engine.
VW head gasket replacement is not a job for the average VW owner. While a head gasket rarely expires due to age, it usually means everything else is worn out to the point of replacement as well. Cracking the head off and probing inside the engine may reveal that everything else were already “burned,” too. Keeping the cooling system in top working order is the best way to prevent head gasket failure. It is also highly recommended to make sure that the engine is in tune and running correctly. Keeping the looks of a VW car will be put to a naught, if the internal problems are not addressed quickly. As probably one of the most sensitive part of the VW engine, the head gasket should always be on the maintenance list.

How much can I expect to pay for a small engine rebuild?
I have a craftsman riding mower, 3 yrs old, Briggs and Stratton engine. White smoke comes from the exhaust and we found that fluid is blowing from the spark plug hold when the plug is removed. We think there is a leaky head gasket or bad piston or rings. I am trying to estimate best scenario, sell and buy new or pay to have a small engine rebuild/repair. Thanks
I think you are right, it is fuel that is coming out of the spark plug hole. That's bad right?
a replacement engine is about $500 and $100 to install.sounds to me like the carb is gummed up and flooding. if you check the oil it is probably over full..the fuel has leaked into the crankcase and thinned the oil its slipping past the rings. that's the white smoke..$200 fix at a lawnmower shop.if your going to do it yourself. take off the carb. clean it with carb cleaner. get the engine #'s and get a carb kit. you need a new float needle..change the oil and filter. put in a new plug as that one will foul soon from burning oil. also check the air filter to make sure its not oil soaked. this is very comon in the spring after the mower has been sitting up.next year run all the gas out of the engine before putting it up.
