Here are some more information for Water Pump:

An engine driven Water Pump can be a very helpful tool to have around the house, farm, boat and even on the job. It can help in all sorts of tasks ranging from the not so important like draining the swimming pool to, the very important like watering crops, outing a fire and even draining a flooded home or a construction foundation. But not choosing the correct one can make these tasks seem very hard. So lets begin by getting to know what the specs mean, and after linking them with an appropriate pump.
SPECS:
The specs on all engine driven water pumps and the most important are as follow-
1- suction lift
2- discharge head
3- engine horse power (hp)
4- suction diameter (dia)
5- discharge diameter
6- discharge capacity
7- centrifugal/trash pump
8- engine/pump brand
WHAT THEY MEAN:
1- Suction lift this represents the max distance the pump can pull water from and commonly range in 20 ft-30ft
2- Discharge head this represents the max distance water can travel from the pump strait up and ranges from 108ft up
3-Engine Horsepower is the power the engine delivers
4-Suction diameter is the size of the hose that can be used on the suction dia, and normally looks like 1", 2", and 3"
5-Discharge dia is the size of the hose that can be use on the discharge side.
6-Discharge capacity the max amount of water the pump can discharge and looks like 8000 gallons per hour or (GPH).
7-Centrifugal/Trash pump this tells you what type of pump it is Centrifugal means the pump can work in clean or semi dirty water. Trash means it can pump solids in dirty water. But this category can be broken into at least three more categories pressure, diaphragm and chemical transfer pumps.
8- Engine/pump brand- this represents the brand of pump and engine maker.
So you know what the specs mean now lets put them together. If you want a pump for your home to empty the swimming pool or in case of a flood, your specs might look like this suction lift 26 ft / discharge head 108 ft / engine hp 3.5-6.5 hp / suction dia 1 1/2" - 3" / discharge capacity 6000-14000 GPH / type centrifugal.
If you need one for the farm to maybe water you crops and as a backup fire prevention tool your spec would look like this suction lift 26ft / discharge head 150ft - 258ft / engine hp 6-9 hp / suction dia 1 1/2" - 3" / discharge capacity 6000-14000 GPH / type centrifugal pressure. Want one for the job for foundations or ditches your specs would look something like suction lift 26 ft / discharge head 108 ft-130 ft / engine hp 6.5 hp-18 hp / suction dia 2" - 4" / discharge capacity 6000-18000 GPH / type trash pump or diaphragm pump.
So in closing the things to keep in mind when choosing:
1- what are you pumping and where
2- how far you are pumping (the higher the head the farther it will pump)
3-how fast you want to pump (look at GPH)
4-the brand this is important if you want after sale service as not all brands have this. so some that offer this service are Briggs & Stratton, Honda and Robin Subaru.
Beating the Heat With the Saturn Water Pump
Taming a horse that packs a potent heave of performance inside that of an engine of a Saturn is a must. After all, it is needed to prevent such damages like engine overheating. Thus, the cooling system is there to remove excess heat form the engine, thereby keeping engine temperature at bay. Such condition would trigger increased power, torque and fuel economy.
An important element in driving off the heat in the engine compartment is the coolant. The one that transports this throughout the confines of the cooling system is the Saturn Water Pump. It is the centrifugal pump being driven by a belt connected to the crankshaft of the engine. From the radiator, the coolant is transported to the engine and back to the radiator itself. This is where the coolant with the heat is being cooled off through the radiator fan. It then dissipates through the air outside.
This water pump contains the shaft with a pulley at one end and a pump rotor at one end. As the belt spins the pulley, the rotor starts to circulate the coolant. Near the center of the pump is an inlet in order for the coolant returning from the radiator would hit the pump vanes. After which, it delivers the coolant outside the Saturn Water Pump, where it enters the engine.
It is the duty of the water pump to continuously serve its purpose to keep the engine at a safe and manageable temperature. If there is too much heat present at the engine bay, chances are, this could damage the involved parts. The seals separating different engine fluids would melt. Diluted oil will be inefficient for friction, while other delicate metal parts would warp from the extreme heat. If worse comes to worst, a failed Saturn Water Pump would lead to a rather difficult process to replace it. First, the belt that drives the water pump must be removed, Also, the timing cover must be opened. It is then when access to the mounting bolts of the pump could then be possible. When the timing cover is off, check for the proper operation of the timing chain or belt.
From warped leaks to blown gaskets, the Saturn Water Pump can also be prone to leaks. Notice that refill becomes more frequent than the usual with a leakage. A “weep hole” is when there is a small hole drilled on the underside of the water pump. There is sit seeps past a bad seal, it drains out the weep hole. Replacement is a healthy remedy for such problem.

I need to replace a well water pump and the deepth is 14 to 67 feet, what kind of pump should I buy?
I bought a house with a well, and it doesn't have a pump. I new to this so I have no idea where to buy a water pump, less what kind. The depth of the well is 67 feet and the highest level of water is 14 feet. What brand or model should I get?
Go to the local hardware store, or a farm & fleet store and you can get your pump.
Since the wll is that deep, I would get a well pump that pumps with enough head to do what you need...
Lemme see.. I would put the pump so that its 10 feet above the bottom, so that when you draw down, (use it), it will have enough to use...
Now, if you have a one storied house, then I would take the 50 feet of head from the well, pluss another ten feet for the first floor, plus, another 20 feet for pressure...80 feet of head should do it. (this will get the pump to pump the water past the well, into the house and past that if you use a hose outside... your Hardware store man should, if they know what they are doing, tell you this).
It should pump into a water container, and a pump, to give you pressure, or, you can also have it bypass the pump and use it directly as an outside hose connection..your choice
I've actually seen people put three way switches at every place they have water, and kick the water pump on, when they needed this... so, its up to you how you do it, but the "norm" is to have a water tank and a pressure tank with a pump, to pump it through out the house, thus giveing pressure that way...
